Diu
A Portuguese colony till1961, Diu is a fascinating blend of Gujarati & Portuguese influences, which is manifested in its architecture & culture. The town itself is a maze of meandering shady lanes with beautiful, ornamental houses. Many churches lie scattered across the island, which is dominated by an almost impregnable fort. Cannon balls litter the place & the ramparts have a superb array of cannons. Magico-Do-Mar skirts the beach at the village of Ahmed Mandvi, just across the Diu checkpoint
