EKBC have dial up Modems which can be connected to any of their full duplex channels. The channels are then configured as connected to an EKB through Modem (in software).

The EKBC establishes Message Exchange session with the EKB by dialling the programmed Number for that channel. Once the session is established, messages are exchanged between EKBC & EKB in full duplex Mode.

The Message Exchange session is alive till any one of the following events occurs.
1. Programmed duration elapses.
2. No Message Exchange between EKB & EKBC for the duration of 1 Min

The EKBC disconnects the call & terminates the session.

The next sesssion is originated by the EKBC again after a programmable interval. All PSTN channels can have simultaneous sessions.

  • The Modem on the EKB side is a simple answer modem (without dialling
  facility) is cost effective.
• EKB Modem is not powered separately & hence cannot be switched off
  wihout switching the EKB off.
• Originating a session is in the control of only the EKBC ensuring that lines
  are not congested.
• The station identification is easy.
